Letter book, 1862-1864.

Letters by Hall in his capacity as lieutenant colonel of the 1st New York Regiment, Engineers, and provost marshal general of the Department of the South. The letters deal with routine military matters and also discuss construction work undertaken by Hall's regiment, the utility of providing rations for Southerners of questionable loyalty, an internal dispute in Hall's regiment, and the case of a British subject accused of blockade running.
